School-Related Programs

  • Health Careers:   A local junior high school class visits Brookdale one day each week during the school term. The students spend the day "shadowing" employee mentors to learn what is involved in their jobs. Students from area high schools and colleges volunteer their spare time in various hospital areas to explore career choices and participate in the "world of work" experience.
  • Summer Youth Employment Program:   Eligible high school students are accepted and placed throughout our facility to assist employees and learn to function successfully in the workplace while earning much needed money funded though local community organizations.

Flu shots are also routinely given at all of our Brookdale Family Care Centers (September through October).  Call (718) 240-5082.
  • Educational Workshops:   These workshops are hosted regularly at local senior citizen centers and are supported by a team of hospital professionals stressing wellness and maintaining a healthy community, information on services/programs available, how to access the services within our integrated healthcare delivery system.  These efforts are indicative of Brookdale's sensitivity toward serving the needs of the senior population.
