The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center is proud to be a leader in health care.  With many important "firsts", Brookdale can boast, as well of our, unique services and innovative programs, including:

• The Department of Radiology goes live with the PACS, state-of-the-art digital radiology communication system.
• Labor/Delivery/Recovery unit undergoes major modernization including the use of electronic records
• The Radutzky Emergency Care Pavilion is expanded to accommodate the over 100,000 annual visits
• The Schulman and Schachne Adult Health Care Program offers healthcare facilities to community persons with functional impediments
• Brookdale establishes a Stroke Center that provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment for patients who have suffered a brain attack from arrival at the hospital to discharge
• The first ventilator-dependent unit in a long-term skilled nursing facility in Brooklyn.
• Brookdale Hospital has the first Hyperbaric and Wound Healing Center in Brooklyn for the treatment of smoke inhalation, carbon monoxide poisoning, advanced wound healing, burns, decompression sickness, and radiation tissue injury among others.
• The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center provides twenty-first century techniques for the treatment of uterine fibroid treatment. Women who suffer from fibroid tumors can now choose a simpler and safer, non-surgical procedure without the physical and emotional impact of a hysterectomy. The procedure called Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE).
• The first hospital in Brooklyn to have a bone densitometer, used for diagnosing osteoporosis. .
• Six Brookdale Family Care Centers , facilities in the outlying communities offering "family doctor" primary care services to men, women and children.

• The most comprehensive AIDS Designated Center in Brooklyn, called Treatment for Life Center or TLC.  TLC, offers a range of outpatient, in-hospital, and long-term care specifically geared for the HIV/AIDS population. Brookdale is the only hospital with a 120 in-patient bed facility.
• Sophisticated diagnostic and treatment technology, and services for Oncology (cancer) patients, with a state-of-the-art Radiation Oncology Department .
